We are very excited to announce that Ellie has been selected for the British Eventing Official GBR Youth Performance Development Squad on Mandorior and Joubert. This is a fabulous recognition of her achievements throughout the 2019 season, in particular at Frickley Park Horse Trials, Millstreet Horse Show and Bicton Arena Horse Trials. Sadly Joubert has been sold, but we are looking to replace him with another potential Junior horse in order for Ellie to take up this opportunity on two horses. We are so proud and can't wait to see what the 2020 season holds!

Had a really busy day at the NSEA schools qualifier at WWEC on Saturday with Ellie riding 4 horses in 6 classes around 5 different courses. Started with Chris Emmett’s lovely grey mare Elzy jumping a fast clear to help the Dauntsey’s team to finish 3rd from 20 teams in the 90cm class. Next was the 100m where Shrimp, who was very happy to be outside, jumped a super clear giving their team a place at the Hickstead Final in August.

Then it was Marleys turn in the biggest SJ class of the day, the 110. They both flew around beautifully- Marley happily taking charge- but just rolled one pole missing out on a place.

Then it was inside for the busy arena eventing where tight turns and an optimum time would win the class. Bridget Hall’s Moley was foot perfect finishing a super 6th from 72 starters in the 95cm and then went a lot quicker in the last class on the day but two poles pushed him down the order.

Marley had been a total gentleman and waited patiently for his 2nd round and had a great time bringing Ellie safely home over a mixture of 17 jumps tipping just one rail.

Thank you to Karen Smith [Shrimp], Bridget and Chris and the Marley syndicate for their lovely horses. Well done Ellie for remembering 5 different courses [and her stickability!], Alex for helping me all day and Jess, Oceane and Libby for sorting everything out at Rosegarth.

Horses all great thanks to Pure Feed, Devacoux, HRP, Free Jump and Gatehouse.

What a fun weekend of hunter trials and events.

Ellie won her 100 cm open hunter trial event at West Wiltshire on Moley and Pedro’s boy was placed 10th in the 90 event.

Alex Chapman, my newest working pupil rode Zoe’s horse Bertie and one of our newest horses Silver in his first hunter trial, he joined Ellie riding Elzy and placing 7th in the pairs event.

This week I will be working hard training Dauntsey’s team so that they are ready for the championships and I will then be heading out for the weekend to coach Willemina at Le Lion.

Check out the fun photos from the weekend courtesy of Bea, our new working pupil.

A beautiful day and great to have Lucinda and Ellie’s owners there, Bridget Hall with her beloved Moley and Karen Smith with Mandorior (Shrimp).

New working pupil Bea did a great job at her first ever event grooming for Ellie, while head groom Jess sorted out the rest of the team at home at Rosegarth.

Thank you to all of my sponsors for their continued support, without which Lucinda would struggle, namely Pure Feed, Devoucoux, Gatehouse, Rodney Powell, Arc Equine, HRP Saddle Pads, Safecare Equine, Prochaps, Mark Todd Collection, Ice Horse, Freejump, Megan King Physiotherapy, The Horse Bit Shop, Hay-hutch , Thermology UK, Prochaps, Prolite and Cardwave.

Also a huge thank you to Pontispool who were extremely helpful and friendly in providing lifts around the course while Lucinda is still recovering after her knee operation earlier this year.

It was so lovely to have the “honies” out following Ellie’s two month summer break. Ellie and Moley finished 15th in the BE100 and 8th with Shrimp in the BE90 with good dressage tests, fabulous XC clears within the time and just a couple of rusty rails down in SJ.

Next stop will be Ellie representing Dauntseys school at Stonar and then followed by Dauntsey, Calmsden and Bovington.

Hopefully after that we will get some lie ins over the Autumn and Winter period.

A lovely start to Barbury with Ellie taking part in the new arena eventing this morning with Mandorior (owned by Karen Smith) and Joubert (owned by Bridget Hall).

If you have ever dreamt of riding at iconic Barbury, then arena eventing could be the option for you. there are two classes at 90cm and 100cm and horses and riders complete a round of show jumps immediately followed by a cross country course in an arena.

The last fence is a show jump, the joker fence. The joker fence will be approximately 10cm higher than the rest of the course, if you knock the joker fence down you will incur six penalties.

Barbury was lovely although rather hot and not surprisingly the ground was firm.

Rebecca produced some super work with both Little Britannia and Britannia's Mail in their dressage tests, but with a few costly little mistakes.

Both horses looked fantastic and behaved beautifully all weekend- they have certainly grown up a lot since their first BYEH 5 years ago!

Both rolled an unlucky pole during the show jumping but were foot perfect cross country and Rebecca certainly rode beautifully, the horses looked a picture galloping around the Marlborough hills.

Next stop will be their first advanced in less than two weeks at Aston Le Walls.

Big day this Thursday when Ellie and Joubert and WP Anna Wilson on Ordnance Hill compete at their first BE 100 at Upton House.
